Eufy RTSP/NAS setup: event streams and continuous video

The short answer

On supported Eufy devices, RTSP/NAS setup generates the stream address. Event mode and continuous mode behave differently: an event-only source may be unavailable when idle. Check the exact camera and HomeBase arrangement instead of assuming every Eufy camera provides a permanent live stream.

What to know for this brand

  • Supported Eufy cameras generate an RTSP address through their NAS/RTSP settings, with the camera and NAS on the same router.

  • In event mode the stream is available only while an event triggers it, while supported continuous mode supplies a continuous stream.

  • Recordings saved through this NAS route are played in the NAS application rather than the Eufy app; RTSP evidence does not establish ONVIF control.

Connection route

Consumer-camera support is model-dependent. Battery operation, a required hub, privacy modes and event-only streaming can affect whether an endpoint is available. Check the device’s own settings and generated address. A feature in one mains-powered camera should not be assumed on every doorbell or battery model.

ONVIF check

Native ONVIF support is not established here. Do not infer it from the vendor app, an RTSP session or a bridge.

Model-scoped stream examples

No universal direct RTSP template is provided. Obtain a supported endpoint from the exact device, controller or documented API instead of guessing an address.

Use a private, reachable network for the first test. A working vendor cloud view does not prove that a separate computer can reach a local camera service.

Source titles retain the original document language. Check the current manual for your product; firmware, accounts and service availability can change.

Work through the checks

  1. Open the individual device’s settings and look for NAS or RTSP storage. Check its current official compatibility guidance if the option is missing.

  2. Review the available recording modes. Battery-powered or event-oriented workflows must not be described as continuous merely because a NAS can store video.

  3. Enable the supported mode and copy its generated RTSP address and local login. Keep the camera address stable with an appropriate router reservation.

  4. In event mode, deliberately trigger an authorized test event and connect while the source is active. Compare that result with the idle period before diagnosing a connection failure.

  5. For a supported continuous mode, test sustained viewing and reconnect separately. NAS recordings are managed by the receiving NAS application, not automatically by the Eufy app.

What to verify

Record model, mode, endpoint availability and decoded video. Do not generalize codec, resolution, continuous recording or AeoCam compatibility from a different Eufy model.

Sources and scope

AeoCam is available for Windows. Camera settings below describe protocol preparation, not a certification of a particular camera or a promise of every feature in every app version. Check the installed build and the Microsoft Store listing for current availability.

Vendor documents describe the camera or protocol. No physical-camera compatibility test is claimed here. Menus and capabilities can change with model and firmware.
