The short answer
Distinguish camera overlay time, event time and file time. Correct time-zone assumptions before concluding that footage is missing or out of order.
Work through the checks
Check both computer time and camera time, including time zone and synchronization settings. ONVIF authentication and event ordering can be affected by clock differences.
If recording is available in the installed build, capture a short authorized test event. Confirm a new local file is created, grows as expected and can be reopened after recording stops.
Match an event entry to the camera, timestamp and any linked local media. An event is metadata; its presence does not guarantee that a complete video clip was saved.
Match the requested channel or lens to the manufacturer’s numbering. A valid stream from the wrong channel can look like success while showing another camera.
What to verify
Reopen a completed test clip and seek to a known event time if the player permits seeking. Confirm moving images, duration and camera identity; a thumbnail or event row alone is insufficient.
