Camera workflows

Observe pets with a local camera view

The short answer

Match the camera view to the area the pet actually uses and test day/night transitions. Do not assume that every person or motion detector recognizes animals.

Work through the checks

  1. Write down the exact outcome you need: live observation, a saved event, camera movement or long-term retention. Check each outcome separately instead of treating a visible stream as proof of all functions.

  2. Check who can see the live view, the field of view and the local files. Limit unnecessary capture and access; local storage does not by itself protect footage from other computer users.

  3. Match the requested channel or lens to the manufacturer’s numbering. A valid stream from the wrong channel can look like success while showing another camera.

  4. Use representative day and night scenes, including empty scenes. Compare missed events and unwanted triggers before changing sensitivity; one successful alert is not a reliability measurement.

What to verify

Match an event entry to the camera, timestamp and any linked local media. An event is metadata; its presence does not guarantee that a complete video clip was saved.
