Connect a camera

Add a camera using a manual RTSP address

The short answer

Manual RTSP is useful when the stream address is known or discovery is unavailable. It does not automatically add camera discovery, events or PTZ control.

Work through the checks

  1. Read the camera address in your router’s DHCP client list or the manufacturer’s local setup tool. Confirm the entry against the MAC address instead of guessing an address.

  2. Test only the configured device and service port from the Windows computer. A successful TCP connection proves reachability to that port, not correct credentials or a decoded video image.

  3. Copy the RTSP path from the documentation for the exact product family. Keep the address, service port, channel and main/substream selector as separate values during diagnosis.

  4. Enter credentials in separate app fields when available. For a URL that must contain credentials, encode reserved characters only in the user/password components; never encode the complete RTSP URL.

What to verify

Test one camera and one stream before opening a larger camera wall. Keep the camera settings unchanged while you establish whether the first live image is stable.

Sources and scope

AeoCam is available for Windows. Camera settings below describe protocol preparation, not a certification of a particular camera or a promise of every feature in every app version. Check the installed build and the Microsoft Store listing for current availability.

Vendor documents describe the camera or protocol. No physical-camera compatibility test is claimed here. Menus and capabilities can change with model and firmware.
