The short answer
An RTSP address needs the correct host, port, path and stream account. Brand templates are starting points for matching models, not universal URLs. Use the camera app, web interface, ONVIF media information or the relevant vendor guide to obtain an address before testing it on Windows.
- Hikvision RTSP URL: channels, substreams and ONVIF setup
- Tapo RTSP and ONVIF: Camera Account, stream1 and stream2
- Which Wyze cameras support RTSP? Models and firmware
- EZVIZ RTSP setup: local password, model and stream URL
- Eufy RTSP/NAS setup: event streams and continuous video
- go2rtc RTSP output to a Windows viewer
- Build an RTSP URL: address, port, login and stream path
Work through the checks
For Hikvision, distinguish channel 101 from 102 and other recorder channels using its published streaming guide. Do not assume an NVR channel is the same as a standalone camera.
For supported Tapo cameras, create a Camera Account and check stream1 or stream2 against the model’s instructions. The cloud-account password is not a substitute.
For Wyze or Eufy, start with the URL generated by the supported RTSP setup. Do not transplant a path from a legacy firmware article to a current branch.
For Axis, Dahua or other professional cameras, consult the exact family’s stream and profile documentation. Multi-sensor devices and recorders may need different channel selectors.
Replace every placeholder in a template and keep credentials private. Test one endpoint at a time and preserve scheme, case-sensitive path and query parameters.
rtsp://CAMERA_IP:554/Streaming/Channels/101
rtsp://CAMERA_IP:554/stream1
rtsp://CAMERA_IP:554/axis-media/media.ampWhat to verify
A usable directory entry records model, firmware, source and a decoded picture. If a path is unverified for your device, label it a template rather than a working public stream.

AeoCam is available for Windows. Camera settings below describe protocol preparation, not a certification of a particular camera or a promise of every feature in every app version. Check the installed build and the Microsoft Store listing for current availability.
Vendor documents describe the camera or protocol. No physical-camera compatibility test is claimed here. Menus and capabilities can change with model and firmware.
