Viewing and recording

Test ONVIF PTZ safely and deliberately

The short answer

PTZ requires camera capability and the correct control permissions. Verify a small movement and a stop command separately from successful live viewing.

Work through the checks

  1. Check the model manual for an ONVIF service switch and any separate ONVIF account. Use the configured service port; do not assume it equals the RTSP port.

  2. Use the camera’s local protocol account. A cloud app email address is not necessarily a valid RTSP or ONVIF login. Grant only the viewing or control permissions actually needed.

  3. Use ONVIF-reported media profiles where available, and record the selected profile token. Profiles can differ in resolution, codec, audio and PTZ associations.

  4. Verify that the device reports the required ONVIF PTZ capability and that the local account has control permission. Begin with a small supervised movement and confirm the stop response.

What to verify

Read existing presets before adding or changing one. Verify the target position with the camera in view; support for video streaming alone does not establish preset support.

Sources and scope

AeoCam is available for Windows. Camera settings below describe protocol preparation, not a certification of a particular camera or a promise of every feature in every app version. Check the installed build and the Microsoft Store listing for current availability.

Vendor documents describe the camera or protocol. No physical-camera compatibility test is claimed here. Menus and capabilities can change with model and firmware.
