Wyze Cam v3 RTSP: current setup and legacy firmware

The short answer

Wyze announced integrated RTSP for Cam v3 in firmware 4.36.16.5654 on February 2, 2026, with app 3.9 or later required for the feature. That introduction version is not a downgrade recommendation. Check the current branch first; old standalone RTSP images follow a separate setup path.

Work through the checks

  1. Confirm that Device Info says Cam v3, not Cam v3 Pro. Write down the installed firmware and app version so a missing menu can be investigated accurately.

  2. Read the current Wyze release notes before updating. Prefer the supported in-app update route for your device instead of starting with an old SD-card firmware guide.

  3. On a build that includes RTSP, open the device settings and look in Advanced Settings. Complete RTSP setup and create its separate stream credentials.

  4. Copy the address the app generates. Keep RTSP versus RTSPS, the displayed port and the path together; a historical /live address and a newer /stream0 address are not interchangeable.

  5. Test on the same trusted LAN with one client, then try that exact source in your Windows viewer. If secure playback fails, establish whether that client supports RTSPS before changing credentials.

What to verify

A successful check shows a changing live scene after reconnecting. Record any audio or restart limitations separately; an available RTSP menu alone does not prove playback.
