Local camera recording or vendor cloud storage?

The short answer

Compare where footage is stored, who can access it and what keeps recording when the computer is unavailable. Local viewing alone does not replace a vendor’s independent storage service.

Work through the checks

  1. Write down the exact outcome you need: live observation, a saved event, camera movement or long-term retention. Check each outcome separately instead of treating a visible stream as proof of all functions.

  2. Check who can see the live view, the field of view and the local files. Limit unnecessary capture and access; local storage does not by itself protect footage from other computer users.

  3. Distinguish screen-off from computer sleep. A computer that sleeps may stop local processing even while the camera stays powered; test the intended power state and reconnect behavior.

  4. If recording is available in the installed build, capture a short authorized test event. Confirm a new local file is created, grows as expected and can be reopened after recording stops.

What to verify

Separate the chosen retention period from actual cleanup behavior. Test the installed app’s available storage controls with disposable footage before relying on automatic deletion.

Sources and scope

AeoCam is available for Windows. Camera settings below describe protocol preparation, not a certification of a particular camera or a promise of every feature in every app version. Check the installed build and the Microsoft Store listing for current availability.

Vendor documents describe the camera or protocol. No physical-camera compatibility test is claimed here. Menus and capabilities can change with model and firmware.
