Protocol basics

Does Wyze RTSP also provide ONVIF and PTZ?

The short answer

An RTSP video URL does not by itself provide ONVIF discovery or pan/tilt control. Treat stream playback, device discovery, audio and camera control as separate capabilities. Check any ONVIF claim against the exact product and firmware instead of inferring it from a working Wyze live view.

Work through the checks

  1. Start by identifying the requirement: video only, automatic discovery, pan/tilt commands or presets. These outcomes need different evidence.

  2. If the camera supplies an RTSP URL, test manual video access first. A camera absent from an ONVIF scan may still have a usable manually configured stream.

  3. Check the vendor’s documentation and the ONVIF conformant-products database for the precise model and version before asserting formal ONVIF support.

  4. If a bridge advertises ONVIF or controls, identify that separate service and its supported commands. Restreaming video alone does not create a complete camera-control implementation.

  5. For a Pan model, compare a deliberate movement in the Wyze app with the intended client’s controls. Keep people and objects clear and stop the movement immediately after the check.

What to verify

Publish separate results for video, discovery and controls. Do not label a model ONVIF-compatible or AeoCam PTZ-tested based only on an RTSP image.

Sources and scope

AeoCam is available for Windows. Camera settings below describe protocol preparation, not a certification of a particular camera or a promise of every feature in every app version. Check the installed build and the Microsoft Store listing for current availability.

Vendor documents describe the camera or protocol. No physical-camera compatibility test is claimed here. Menus and capabilities can change with model and firmware.
